With this exciting new option, Athens Scuba is offering to finish your Open Water certification in the beautiful ocean on one of our exciting international trips that bring us all over the world.

The first two parts of the Open Water Diver class will be exactly as the other Open Water Diver packages Athens Scuba offers, SDI or PADI online knowledge development and confined water training in the pool at Oconee Aquatics & Recreation in Watkinsville. The check out dives will be done while being on a trip with Athens Scuba in 2026.

This is an incredible opportunity to explore the wonderful under water world of Cozumel while getting Open Water Diver certified. You will be able to do two extra dives after completing the class.

Knowledge Development

After signing up for the course with Athens Scuba, we’ll send you an email with all the necessary information as well as a link to the eLearning website with your personal login to the eLearning materials. From there, you’ll be able to access your eLearning materials from anywhere, on your own schedule.

Skill Development

Once you’ve completed the Knowledge Development, we’ll start working on skill development in the Confined Water sessions. We’ll meet twice at Oconee Aquatics & Recreation to work on all required skills for the Open Water Diver certification. Each time we’ll meet for about 3 hours. This will give us plenty of time to develop your skills to get you ready for taking the next step. 

Open Water Check Out Dives

After completing your skill training, we’ll do your check out dives on an international trip! Athens Scuba makes everyone’s dive experience comfortable and easy. We use the dive boats of the local dive operator on the specific trip of your choosing. You don’t have to carry heavy stuff around or exhaust yourself during your Open Water Diver course, plus you’ll be able to see a beautiful coral reef and a lot of tropical reef fish!
